The Global “Compete” Camp
The Global Grassroots "Compete" camp took place this past weekend in Huntsville, AL. While the numbers were limited, the energy and defense was above average at a camp. That was one of the points of emphasis, to make kids compete at a camp environment. They took on the challenge and showed out. Amongst the standouts, these were some of the ones who shined the brightest.
2031 PG Emariyon Rudolph (AL) - is hands down the best player in the 2031 class at the camp, easily top 5 in the country and probably top 5 in the 2030 class in Alabama. This young man has a silky smooth unselfish game that can translate and transform a team. He is nearly unstoppable in the open court and can finish with either hand better than most high school kids as a true 5th grader.
2031 Point Forward Brayden Madison (AL) - definitely showed that he's a kid to keep tabs on throughout his early process. He has really good size and skill that allow him to be versatile or dominant. I remember watching his uncle in high school and he's definitely on the right trajectory to become a major problem in Alabama sooner than later.
2032 SG Chandler Scruggs (AL) - has the making of a good long term prospect with his length, athleticism and ability to finish. He is an early pick for one of the best guards in the state of Alabama.
2033 PG Lennon Smith (AL) - played well beyond his years and playing two grades up and competing at a high level. He is a monster with his on ball defense and has a knack for getting in transition and creating contact to get to the foul line. He was the youngest camper, but showed he belonged.
2029 CG Ace Nelson (AL) - is a lengthy athletic guard that can finish well with either hand. He backed up his reputation as being one of the best guards in the state with his play at camp. He had some nice finishes and really understands the concept of team ball. He showed an overall complete game and can play either guard position at a high level as of now.
2029 CF Christian Allen (AL) - has worked his way into being mentioned as a top 5 player in the state in his class. He has a unique mixture of size, strength and athleticism that allow him to be effective on both ends of the ball. His game is developing daily and he's slowly but surely working his way into the wing position.
2030 Rahkeem Reynolds Jr.(TN) - was by far the most vocal player at the camp. The 2030 PG is regarded as one of the best in the country and seeing him be more vocal showed growth to his already dominant game. He had some of the coaches ask me was he an eight grader with his matuirity, skill level and size from the PG position. His presence was felt for sure, kids in his grade knew he was different from most.
2030 SG/SF Semaj Williams (AL) - is one of the more notable kids in Alabama. He shot lights out and showed improved toughness while being able to handle the physical play of the older players while handling the ball. I was really impressed with his ability to play through the physicality without wavering or shying away.
2029 PG Khiyon Jones (TN) - had defenders off balance all camp long. He had a couple of plays that made people shake their head. He showed his basketball IQ by making good reads off the pick and roll. His shot wasn't on but he knew when to take the shot or hit the roll guy. He also showed his ability to be a physical lock down defender. His passion for winning also was on display with his effort. I love a PG who loves to win.
2029 PG Daemeon Holmes (GA) - had the ball on a string and showed cat like quickness while blowing by opponents. It's tough to stay in front of the PG. Although his shots weren’t falling, it was evident that he has a special skill set with his handle and he can get in the paint and cause problems for defenses.
2029 CF Ace Williams (AL) - is the type of guy that will always have a spot on a team because his willingness to defend and out work his opponent. It was times where he wouldn't let anything in the paint and he's never backing down.
2028 CG Landyn Williams (AL) - was in attack mode from start to finish. He got down hill and caused trouble for the defense each game. He and Caleb Tinsley (2028 CG) had a nice battle going back and forth. They mirror one another with their aggressive play, Caleb is quicker and stronger but Landyn showed he could shoot it better this weekend. Both showed they are amongst some of the better guards in the state of Alabama.
2028 W Cortez Hudson (AL) - is always among the conversation as best in the state. He showed spurts of dominance but didn't put together a full game of his dominant play. At 6'3 his athleticism is a plus and he's a willing passer. This year will be big for him to show growth in his game to stay in the conversation as being the best in the state.
